The Green-Whites continued their preparation for the last Bundesliga game of the season against Borussia Dortmund (Saturday, 23rd May) with a double training session on Wednesday. Viktor Skripnik put his team through their paces in the morning before returning to the pitch in the afternoon. Melvyn Lorenzen was able to fully participate in both sessions after recovering from knee problems.

While the team worked towards the match, in which they'll battle to secure a Europa League place, Clemens Fritz and Davie Selke could only watch. They completed individual running exercises alongside the main squad session. Selke is struggling with adductor problems, while Fritz hasn't completely recovered from a calf problem. Philipp Bargfrede completely missed out. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder is currently plagued by ankle problems. Goalkeeper Raphael Wolf also sat out with a hip problem.

In the meantime, the season is over for Alejandro Gálvez and Santiago Garcia. The Spanish central defender is in talks with the Werder Bremen medical department about undergoing treatment in his home country. Santiago Garcia will only be able to rejoin the team in July. "I would never have thought that this injury would cause me to be sidelined for so long, but there's no longer any pain and I'm getting better," the left back reflected with regards to the knee injury, which has seen him out of action since the beginning of April. "I'm already really looking forward to pre-season because I'll be able to fully join in then."
