Goalkeeper Michael Zetterer was named in the Werder first-team squad for the first time for last Saturday's home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 19-year-old didn't feature in the match but being included was still a "memorable experience" nonetheless. "The Bundesliga is simply something very special. When I came out to warm up there were already 30,000 fans in the Weser-Stadion. I'd never experienced anything like that before," recalled Zetterer.
He has recently been involved with the U23s and has played an important role in helping Alexander Nouri's team climb to first place in the Regionalliga Nord. Whether "Zetti", as he's known to his teammates, will be named once again in the Werder first-team squad will be decided at the last-minute.

"Normally Raphael Wolf is the substitute keeper but he currently has problems with his hip. I obviously hope that he returns to full fitness soon but would also like the opportunity to be involved again," said Zetterer, who is set for an exciting weekened whether or not he's named in the Werder first-team matchday squad. He will either be in Dortmund in a stadium full of 80,000 fans or will feature for the U23s in Cloppenburg as they battle to be crowned Regionalliga champions."
"The U23s can secure the title with a victory and qualify for the 3. Liga promotion playoff. I would also like to be there. However, if Rapha isn't available for the game against BVB, I'll travel with the first team to Dortmund - as a young player, you'd also gladly be named in the squad for a game at Signal Iduna Park," remarked the 19-year-old. Who knows, perhaps Michael Zetterer will not only be celebrating promotion to the 3. Liga come the end of the seaosn but also securing a Europa League berth.
