The preparation for Saturday's Bundesliga home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach got under way in earnest earlier today. Head coach Viktor Skripnik put his side through their paces with two intense sessions on Wednesday. There was good news from the training ground: Melvyn Lorenzen did the majority of the session individiually but did take part in some team exercises; Felix Kroos and Luca Caldirola also returned to team training.

Caldirola has been struggling with a foot problem in recent weeks, however, he should be over the troubles now. "I'm finally fit again and consequently, I'm really happy. Hopefully things continue this way," the Italian told WERDER.DE after training.

Lorenzen: "Currently no issues"

Things are also on the up for Felix Kroos. He broke a rib in the game against Paderborn but can now train pain free. "The injury hasn't fully recovered yet but it feels much better and I would like to think that I'll be available for Saturday's game."

Melvyn Lorenzen is also progressing. The 20-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent weeks and is now slowly returning to training. "Obviously, it's great to be taking part in exercises with the team once again; however, there is still some time to go. I don't know when I'll be able to return to training but I currently have no issues," he explained.
