Sebastian Prödl was missing from training on Thursday afternoon. The Austrian missed the session with a cold. "He has a good a fever as is wiped out. I can't say yet when he will be fit again", explained manager Viktor Skripnik at the press conference ahead of Saturday's match against Hannover 97.
Another centre back, however, returned to training earlier in the week: Jannik Vestergaard completed full sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday after returning from his knee injury. "Jannik has impressed greatly over the last few days, he could be in the starting XI on Saturday", admitted the Bremen manager.

Viktor Skripnik is also hoping for an early comeback for Melvyn Lorenzen and Alejandro Gálvez, though it is still unclear when this will be. "Melvyn Lorenzen will be able to train soon. I would estimate that he will be back in training next week. For Alejandro Gálvez, though, it's not easy to say when he will be able to train again. He has a recurring problem with fluid around his knee so we will have to wait and see."
Felix Kroos is also still out with a cracked rib and will definitely not be available for the "mini derby". "He has missed everything so far and hasn't even been able to start his rehab", explained Skripnik. Özkan Yildirim (ligament) and Santiago Garcia (knee) will probably not feature again this season. "Ozkan will have an operation in the enxt few days and then he will start his rehab. I hope they will both be ready in time for the start of pre season", rounded off the Ukrainian boss.
