The Werder fans were already emotional before the game had even begun after the tribute to the title winning side and the return of Thomas Schaaf. And they were left celebrating with Selke, Fritz and Co. after a gripping game but the win didn't come easily. After a tough first half, Bremen came into the game in the second half and picked up a deserved 1-0 win thanks to Davie Selke's goal.
WERDER.DE was present in the mixed zone at the Weser-Stadion after the final whistle and got all the reaction from the Green-Whites.

Thoughts on the game:
Clemens Fritz: "It was definitely an exciting game for the fans. It was end-to-end for 90 minutes and both teams found space. You saw that both teams wanted to play attacking football. But we stepped up our game in the second half and won the match. We haven't conceded many goals this season and therefore I'm particularly pleased that we kept a clean sheet. However, we weren't very good on the counter as we went offside too often. We have to be cleverer with our chances."
Viktor Skripnik: "We were patient, we were more courageous in the second half and were active in our tackles instead of waiting. We've worked hard on fighting for every ball. I was pleased with that. I'm happy and thankful that the guys played the way they did against good opposition and we are slowly getting back into form."
Zlatko Junuzovic: "We weren't active enough in the first half. We were a lot better in the second half and were rewarded for our efforts."
Thoughts on the return of Thomas Schaaf:
Clemens Fritz: "It didn't motivate us anymore than usual but you could feel that the fans created a special atmosphere today."
Viktor Skripnik: "I was happy to see him. We had a nice chat along with the other coaches but it didn't change anything. As always, three points were up for grabs."

Thomas Eichin: "He got a warm reception but as soon as the game kicked off the fans got behind us and supported us brilliantly."
Zlatko Junuzovic: "I worked with Thomas Schaaf for a year and a half in Bremen. It's not as long as Clemens Fritz or Sebastian Prödl but nevertheless I have a lot to thank him for. He brought me to Werder and gave me a lot of confidence. But it's good that he didn't come away with any points today."
Davie Selke: "Thomas Schaaf was a prominent figure. He achieved a lot at the club. I got the chance to get to know him and can say that he is a good manager and person."
Thoughts on another goal from a set-piece:
Zlatko Junuzovic: "If things aren't working from open play then it has to come from a set-piece. I said to the guys at half time that they had to attack the ball and not wait for it. Luki did that and flicked the ball on well for Davie."
Thoughts on the game in Hannover:
Levin Öztunali: "It'll be a tough game in Hannover but we'll go into it on a positive note. We'll want to pick up all three points there and will therefore give our all to do that."

Thoughts on their chances of qualifying for Europe:
Clemens Fritz: "Obviously you want to be in this position with three games to go. We've worked hard to give ourselves the chance of qualifying for Europe and it would be the icing on the cake to our season."
Thomas Eichin: "We've found the right mindset again since the HSV game. We want to win our next game without looking at the table. We demand that from the team. We take things a game at a time."
Viktor Skripnik: "Our goal has never been to reach the Europa League but if we qualified then it would be the icing on the cake. We still have one more home game to look forward to. We want to battle hard and celebrate with the fans. We know who we are, where we come from and where we are at. We know our strengths but also our weaknesses too. Therefore it's only the three points that count every game and nothing else."
Davie Selke: "We want to do as best we can in our last three games. At the end of the season we'll see where we are. Obviously it's clear that we want to pick up the maximum amount of points.
