After a day off on Tuesday, the Green-Whites were back at training on Wednesday for two training sessions ahead of the 102nd north derby against Hamburger SV on Sunday (15:30 CEST).

Manager Viktor Skripnik led his players onto the training ground both this morning and this afternoon and used the beginning of training to talk to his players about the upcoming derby. Luca Caldirola celebrated his return to training after two weeks out as he took part in an individual session with fitness coach Reinhard Schnittker and Luca Zander. Davie Selke (calf) and Jannik Vestergaard both took part in team training, whilst Philipp Bargfrede continued to miss out due to a thigh problem. As planned, Marnon Busch didn't take part this afternoon, whilst Maximilian Eggestein was missing due to preparations for his A-Levels.

"I'm very happy to be back on the pitch. Hopefully I'll be back training with the team over the next two or three days. It's unlikely that I'll be ready for the derby on Sunday but like everyone else, I would like to be ready for the game," said a happy Caldirola. The Italian has been out recently due to an ankle injury. Whilst the 24-year-old centre back was completing his session, he observed his teammates' training session, in which everyone was concentrated. "Everyone is ready and wants to impress," said Caldirola ahead of the derby.
