After having Easter Monday off, the Werder players began their preparation for Sunday's match (17:30 CEST) against VfB Stuttgart. Manager Viktor Skripnik sent his team off for their usual run in Bürgerpark. Clemens Fritz, who missed the game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 with a sore neck, was back; however, central defender Jannik Verstergaard was absent due to illness.

While the rest of the team were off on the run, Theodor Gebre Selassie, Levent Aycicek and Özkan Yildirim stayed back at the Weser-Stadion training pitch to complete individual sessions. The team will be back training on the pitch on Wednesday at 10:00 CEST and 15:00 CEST.
