Bad weather but a good atmosphere - that was the summary from Werder training on Tuesday morning. Following the running exercises that took place yesterday, the players began their preparations for the home game against FSV Mainz 05 on Tuesday. Everyone took part in the session apart from Marnon Busch, who had to miss out due to muscle problems.

It wasn't only the wind that was causing a stir at the Weser-Stadion but the players were too. Viktor Skripnik put the players through their paces and didn't use the rain or the stormy weather as an excuse. It was a chance for returning players such as Yildirim, Gálvez and Lorenzen to make an impression ahead of the weekend and that will give Skripnik something to think about in terms of the squad for the game against Mainz.

The manager will not be able to call upon Marnon Busch. "Unfortunately I'll have to sit out for a few days after picking up a thigh problem in an U23 game. I'm hoping to be able to return to training in the next few days," said the right back.

The players who will play tonight on international duty were also missing from training. Zlatko Junuzovic and Co. will probably return to team training on Wednesday and Thursday and will bring a fresh impetus to training at the Weser-Stadion.
