+++ Run to the start the week: The week started in a traditional manner for the Werder players. Skripnik's men went on a run in a local park. Right back Marnon Busch picked up a muscular problem in the weekend's U23 game so wasn't involved; Melvyn Lorenzen did take part in the session. It goes without saying that the players who are on international duty were not involved. +++

+++ International duty: A number of Werder stars were in action this weekend. Zlatko Junuzovic scored in Austria's 5-0 win over Liechtenstein. Sebastian Prödl was not involved. Theodor Gebre Selassie completed the Czech Republic's game against Latvia, which ended 1-1. Jannik Vestergaard played 90 minutes for the Denmark U21 side as they drew 0-0 with Portugal. Izet Hajrovic was on the bench for Bosnia-Herzegovina's 3-0 victory over Andorra. On Tuesday he could face teammates Junuzovic and Prödl. Vestergaard will be hoping to be involved in the friendly against USA U21; the Czech Republic face Slovakia. +++
+++ Back in action: Özkan Yildirim has been out of action for over a year. The creative midfielder played in the 2-0 victory over Kosovo and was delighted to return: "It's been a tough year but the support from everyone got me through it. I'm delighted to be back on the pitch once again." +++
