++ On the bikes: The Werder first team have started this week's training with a bike ride. On Monday morning, in blissful spring weather, Franco Di Santo, Fin Bartels and co. saddled up to and went for a long ride through the woodland area near the Weser-Stadion. Numbers were lower than usual, as many players had left to meet up with their national sides. +++

++ Werder players on the road: Altogether there are nine players away on international duty. Jannik Vestergaard is with the Denmark U21s for two friendlies against Portugal and the USA. Davie Selke, Levin Öztunali and Michael Zetterer have joined the Germany U20s for the games against Poland and the Czech Republic. Zlatko Junuzovic and Sebastian Prödl are representing Austria in the European Qualifier against Lichtenstein and a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina, for whom Werder colleague Izet Hajrovic is also playing. The Austrians travelled to Austria straight after the game against 1. FC Köln to meet up with their team. Goalkeeper Koen Casteels is in the Belgium squad ahead of the Euro qualifiers with Cyprus and Israel. Theodor Gebre Selassie will play for the Czech Republic in the Euro qualifier against Latvia and the friendly against Slovakia. +++

++ Garcia carrying a knock: Santiago Garcia has to take things lightly over the next few days. The Argentinean was carrying a knee injury before the Köln game, but can now use the international break to fully recover. +++

++ Selke voted Man of the Match: Davie Selke has been voted Man of the Match for the game in Cologne. The striker proved he has a nose for goals, scoring his sixth goal of the season. It's the second time he has won the award, having also being voted after the game against Borussia Dortmund earlier in the season. Selke was clear winner with close to 50% of the votes, ahead of Jannik Vestergaard and Raphael Wolf. +++

++ Baby joy for Lukimya: Assani Lukimya has had his second child! At the weekend, his new son Assani Jamal was born into the world. "Luki" and his girlfriend Asma El Aissani are celebrating the arrival of their second child, following the birth of their daughter Leyla Sofia in 2012. WERDER.DE congratulates them and wishes the young family all the best! +++
