A busy week for Werder Bremen ends tomorrow when they face SC Freiburg (7th March, 15:30 CET). Philipp Bargfrede returns to the matchday squad for the game.
The defensive midfielder has been absent for two and a half weeks but took part in training on Thursday and Friday. "It's looking good for Philipp. He could be an option this weekend," explained Skripnik. His return is a boost to the team. "We have five or six injured guys, which means we haven't been as fresh as we'd like for games," added the head coach. The return of Bargfrede comes at an important time: Tomorrow will be a tough game as Freiburg are fighting relegation and will be determined to pick up points at home.

Maintaining their Bundesliga status remains Werder's main aim. "We've always said that we need to create a gap between us and the drop zone." As it stands Bremen are eight places and eight points better off than Freiburg, who currently occupy a relegation place. Werder were knocked out of the DFB Cup in the week, but Freiburg progressed thanks to their 2-1 win over 1. FC Köln. "That will have given them confidence," explained Skripnik. One thing is certain: A win tomorrow would be an important step towards safety for his side.
