During Wednesday's training session there was a moment of fear. Santiago Garcia fell on his right hand but continued the session after a quick examination. "The hand hurts," said Garcia after training. An exact diagnosis is unknown but the left back hopes to face Wolfsburg.
Garcia has been in competition for the left back spot with Janek Sternberg recently: The 26-year-old has started the last three matches. The defender relishes the competition: "The head coach praised my recent performances. I am focussed on my own game." Werder's number two is already looking forward to tzhe game against Wolfsburg. "We'll have to defend more, like we did against Dortmund. I certainly want to be involved," he explained.

Franco DI Danto may face the Wolves. Werder's topscorer has scored three goals in his last two appearances at home and returned to team training on Wednesday. The Argentina international picked up muscular discomfort against Schalke but has recovered: "I don't have any issues anymore. It's all ok."
Viktor Skripnik's side played an 11v11 practice match in training today. Ahead of the game against the Wolves, there are sessions on Thursday and Friday as well as behind closed doors one on Saturday afternoon. The 18-man squad for the match will then be selected.
