He's back giving commands, taking the lead and is beginning to regain his form. Sebastian Prödl has been back in team training this week with his Werder teammates after two months on the sidelines due to injury. The Austrian took part in the warm down on Monday and was finally back in training for the two sessions on Wednesday.

It's nine weeks since Sebastian Prödl tore the medial collateral ligament in his knee during the game against Eintracht Frankfurt. He's now on the way back after successful rehab. "The last few weeks haven't been easy. You're always on your own during rehab," said Prödl. But now the Austria international is gradually feeling his way back into things. However, the earliest the 27-year-old will be back in the squad will be for the game against Schalke 04 and he doesn't want to make his return too quickly: "I'm happy to be part of the team again. I can work on my knee without any pressure. I still need to work on regaining that feeling of security in my knee in tackles. I'm expecting a tough time of things," believes Prödl, who wants to decide when he can return to the squad with the staff.

Gálvez sad, Di Santo trains individually

Whilst Prödl is now back in team training, fellow centre back Alejandro Gálvez still has the tough rehab stage to come. The Spaniard will be out for a number of weeks due to an minor ankle ligament tear. "Obviously I'm sad that I can't help my teammates on the pitch. I'm doing all I can to be back as quickly as possible but the doctor has said that I'll be out for three or four weeks so I'll have to wait," said Gálvez.

But there's some good news regarding Franco Di Santo. The Argentine took part in an individual training session with Julian von Haacke on Wednesday. After some running exercises, he took part in a few easy drills with the ball. A decision will be made day-to-day as to when the Green-Whites' top scorer will be able to return to team training. The same will be done with Fin Bartels. The 28-year-old spent both training sessions today in the gym and is expected to return to the pitch tomorrow.
