A couple of Green-White comebacks in Osnabrück?

Nouri played for the Lily Whites from 2004 to 2008 and now another one of these memorable matches at the osnatel ARENA awaits him and his team, as the Green-Whites travel to Osnabrück to play a friendly tomorrow (Friday, 11th November). "My desire is bringing me back"

The last time Philipp Bargfrede wore the Werder shirt in a game was last January. The away match at Schalke 04 finished 3-1, but not in Werder’s favour. Bargfrede would have clearly also loved to have played in Sunday’s match against the Royal Blues. However appearing in the Schalke game, which ended in the same result as Bargfrede’s last match for Werder in January, would have been a little too...

Rest over travel for SVW internationals

There are certainly not too many fans who are willing to brave the ice cold temperatures and attend Werder’s open training sessions. Those who did manage to see the session, however, would have noticed that some familiar faces were missing from Wednesday’s training session. Alongside the ten international players away with their respective nations, five other Werder players were missing from first...

+++ Bargfrede is back! He’s the latest name to be added to the list of returnees, as at the start of the week, Claudio Pizarro and Max Kruse also returned to team training after long-term injury lay-offs. The midfielder took part in team training on Monday morning, joining a small group of players on the training pitch. The reduced numbers were down to the starting eleven undergoing recovery...

Nouri: “Too careless in decisive moments”

Alexander Nouri started to analyse this afternoon’s game as soon as Werder began their journey back to Bremen. “I want to watch the whole match again,” said the Werder manager. “It’s important to give the players a day or two to unwind.” He figured that the main reason for the 3-1 loss against Schalke 04 was their careless defending for the first two goals. “We were too casual and gave the game...

SVW lose 3-1 in Gelsenkirchen

SV Werder have lost their away Bundesliga tie to FC Schalke 04, 3-1. Werder looking to bounce back

“It’s quite a normal Bundesliga fixture for us,“ said Werder Bremen Sporting Director Frank Baumann during the press conference ahead of Sunday’s away match at Schalke 04 (17:30 CET). However, Baumann was not talking about the team’s attitude and mentality that they were lacking in the match against Freiburg. The match against Schalke 04 can’t be ‘quite normal’, because the Green-Whites don’t want...

Frank Baumann: “We didn’t give enough”

It just wasn’t Werder’s day. Rather than now pushing for a place in the middle of the Bundesliga table, the Green Whites are forced to look over their shoulder - the 3-1 home defeat to SC Freiburg was therefore a step back for SVW. “It was a tough day. We didn’t perform how we promised ourselves we would,” explained the self-critical Fin Bartels after the game. Frustration and disappointment...

Werder seeking third home win of the season

They would have hoped for a successful start to the week in Freiburg, as before SCF travelled to Bremen to face SV Werder on Saturday (29th Oct, 15:30 CEST), they came up against second division side SV Sandhausen in the DFB Cup and suffered a disappointing loss on penalties. Despite the fact this week’s opponents have already played 120 minutes during the week, coach Alex Nouri doesn’t see this...
