Maximilian Eggestein has extended his contract at SV Werder Bremen ahead of schedule. The 20-year-old signed his new deal on Tuesday afternoon and the news was announced by Werder's sporting director, Frank Baumann.

Yuning Zhang joins Werder on loan

Werder Bremen's newest recruit comes all the way from the Far East. The Green-Whites have signed China international Yuning Zhang on a two-year loan deal from English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion. The centre forward played for Vitesse Arnheim last season before recently switching to West Brom, and has been immediately loaned out to Werder.

Pizarro’s contract won't be extended

Claudio Pizarro will not play for SV Werder Bremen in the 2017/18 season. Werder’s sporting director Frank Baumann announced on Sunday morning that the Green-Whites won’t be extending the 38 year old’s expiring contract.

Werder start the season in Hoffenheim

SV Werder Bremen will kick start the 2017/18 Bundesliga season with an away match at 1899 Hoffenheim. The match, which will take place on either 19th or 20th August, was announced by the Germany Football League (DFL) on Thursday alongside the full fixture list for the new season. The Green-Whites’ first home game of the season is a real cracker against record champions FC Bayern München.

Jiri Pavlenka joins Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen and SK Slavia Prague have come to an agreement on the transfer of goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka. Werder's sporting director made the announcement on Tuesday at midday. The Czech international is expected in Bremen later on this week to complete a medical and officially sign his contract.

Draw for Veljkovic and Serbia

Milos Veljkovic drew 2-2 with Serbia under-21s on Tuesday night in their European Championship group game with Macedonia. Serbia opened the scoring through Gacinovic in the first half before Macedona turned the game on its head in the first half. It took a last minute equalizer from Durdevic to rescue a point for the Serbs. Werder’s centre back played the whole 90 minutes.
