Fine-tuning in Groningen

A marathon of pre-season friendlies await SV Werder this weekend as the Green-Whites test themselves with three matches in four days. After Florian Kohfeldt’s side overcame their first hurdle against Arminia Bielefeld 1-0, the Werder troops travel to the Hitachi-Stadion on Sunday to face FC Groningen (14:30 CEST).

Dutch international Davy Klaassen has joined Werder Bremen from Premier League club Everton FC with immediate effect. “We are really pleased to have found exactly the player we were looking for. Davy is a talented player and also has a lot of experience for his relatively young age. Thy completes move to Turkey

Lennart Thy has left SV Werder Bremen to join Büyüksehir Belediye Erzurumspor in Turkey. The forward, who was on loan at VVV Venlo last season, has made an immediate move to the newly-promoted Turkish top-flight side. Werder sporting director Frank Baumann finalised the details and confirmed the transfer on Saturday morning.

SV Werder lost their training camp friendly against 1. FC Köln 1-0. Both sides had great chances in the first half, but goals proved to be elusive.
