Munich takes the focus after bitter 1:2 defeat

The game against VfL Bochum was not just frustrating due to the points that were dropped. The game was the conclusion of a week which held two defeats and severely dented the optimism of the Werder fans with a trip to take on Bayern Munich looming. All that said, there was no-one in Bremen discussing a botched re-start just yet.

Aaron Hunt pulls out of U21 tie

On Sunday evening, Aaron Hunt pulled out of the German U21 squad for their up-coming game. Trainer Thomas Schaaf made the announcement: "Due to the amount of strain he has been under having just returned from injury, Aaron suffered a muscular reaction and therefore we will be allowing him time to regenerate during this week."

Petri Pasanen returned to join his colleagues for the final pre-match training session on Saturday. Werder reserves leave german champions sweating

Werder Bremen’s reserves can hold their heads high after being eliminated from the DFB Cup by German champions VfB Stuttgart in a game which finished 2:3 (0:3). The 10,310 strong crowd at the Weser Stadium saw the young Green-White eleven put up an unprecedented fight against the reigning Bundesliga title holders.
