UEFA set Glasgow date

The date for Werder Bremen’s UEFA Cup second leg clash with Scottish league leaders Glasgow Rangers has now been set. The second leg of the tie at the Weser Stadium will take place on Thursday, 13.03.2008 at 8:30pm and the game will be broadcast live by German television station ZDF.

Diego handed three match ban

This afternoon, Werder Bremen accepted the penalty sent down by the German Football League’s (DFB) disciplinary committee for playmaker Diego, who will now serve a three match suspension. The ban means the Brazilian international will miss out on clashes with Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg.

Frustrating away defeat

On the 21st match day of the Bundesliga season, Werder Bremen slipped to a 0:1 (0:0) defeat at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt. In front of a 50,000 strong crowd at the Frankfurt Arena, Greek striker Ioannis Amanatidis scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute.
